The Trending Hashtag "Prince of Pegging" Brings a New Reign of Internet Homophobia

The hashtag #PrinceOfPegging hit the headlines of other news that permeated my Twitter account this morning.

Anyone would be attracted to alliteration alliteration in and of itself, but if you know anything about the sexual phrase "pegging,"

So you can understand why it's more clickable.

Although it was created specifically to describe the function of a cis,

straight woman penetrates a cis, straight man with a strap-on dildo, pegging is another word for anal intercourse.

However, using only this phrase raises the issue of whether the term "pegging" contributes to damaging stereotypes about gay sex.

When I searched Twitter's most recent trendy hashtag #PrinceOfPegging, I learned it was created in response to an alleged royal romance.

According to gossip account Dexmoi in an Instagram Story on Wednesday,

the "British Royal Extramarital Affair" is "an open secret in London and among the English aristocracy, and is the subject of every party."
