Stevie Nicks Covers Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth”

In "For What It's Worth," the tragic reality of gun violence is highlighted, along with its consequences on children, the extraordinary resistance that results, and the dread it instils in people as a result.

The singer has been outspoken about the need for strict gun regulation, thus this initiative aligns with her views on the subject.

The chorus's silky harmonies are kept, and the cover manages to maintain the original's instrumentation.

The beauty of the lyrics is enhanced by Nicks' voice, which also carries deep emotion and an almost spoken-word aspect.

The cover was created alongside producer Greg Kurstin, Sharon Celani, and Waddy Watchel from Nicks' touring band, according to Consequence.

Consequence also highlights that it is Nicks’ “perspective as a woman [that] gives extra meaning to the lyrics.”

Nicks has also previously used her platform to express her outrage over the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade. For more on this, see here.
