Marko: Max’s wing problem now ‘fixed and resolved’
Putting in the laps in Friday’s practice for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Verstappen’s rear wing caught the eye as it wobbled down the straight.
The wing was notably flexing especially when his DRS was open and while it cannot be said that the wing was illegal, the FIA conducting flexi tests, it was circumspect.
Red Bull declared that it was a problem with the wing and set about fixing it.
“That is now fixed and resolved,” Marko has told motorsport-magazin.com.
“It’s funny,” he added, “there are two identical wings, but it only ever occurs with Max.”
This season, the Dutchman has struggled with rear wing troubles, battling with his DRS on multiple occasions,
most notably in Spain, when it was sporadic and he yelled at Red Bull for failing to make a "fucking DRS function."
Verstappen confirmed that he had not noticed a repeat of the issue during second practice.
"Of course, we attempted to address it," he continued, "and I didn't hear anything in the vehicle in the second practise session, so I guess everything is OK now."
The repair work, though, did cost him a bit of time out on track at the start of FP2 but he isn’t too worried about it.
“I was able to do a few longer runs in the first practice session,” said Verstappen. “That gives us an idea.
“Of course we don’t have the full picture as far as tyre wear is concerned but I think we have enough information to know which direction to take.”
