Faith Hill Never Wanted to Act Again After ‘Stepford Wives’
The "Breathe" singer admits she never planned to return to acting in film and television after her involvement in the 2004 film The Stepford Wives.
Faith Hill recently co-starred in the Yellowstone prequel 1883 with her husband and fellow performer Tim McGraw.
Hill played "Stepford" wife Sarah Sunderson and co-starred with Nicole Kidman, Glenn Close, Matthew Broderick, and others in director Frank Oz's adaptation of Ira Levin's 1972 novel of the same name.
In an interview with presenter Kelly Clarkson on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Tuesday,
Hill said that while her experience filming The Stepford Wives didn't help, initially it was her music and taking care of her family that kept her from making movies.
Hill remarked, "My career went off, no time, had babies, and I had done a few things. "With an incredible cast, I performed Stepford Wives.
However, it wasn't the best experience, so I vowed to never work on any movie project again
Asked why her experience filming The Stepford Wives wasn’t her favorite, Hill responded, “Because it’s so long. The waiting for me.…”
“It’s hurry up and wait,” Clarkson agreed.
Hill said, "I cannot. "I have to work hard and do things. Then, in 2017, I performed a solo act called Dixieland.
Over the years, I read a number of scripts, but nothing ever struck me, or the timing just wasn't right.
Then she read the script for Taylor Sheridan’s 1883.
“The script was so well-written,” Hill said. “I had honestly never read anything like that. So we made the decision to do it.”
In 1883, Hill portrays Margaret Dutton, while McGraw portrays Margaret’s husband, James Dutton, great-grandfather of Yellowstone character John Dutton.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hill explained why she and McGraw decided not to rehearse at home together before getting to set.
“It seemed to work, because Tim still surprised me when we were working together — he did things as James I didn’t expect from him,” she said. “I needed that in order to be as natural as possible.”
