Billy Kametz death: Voice actor dies aged 35

Billy Kametz, a popular voice actor in the anime and video game industry, has died aged 35 from colon cancer.

The agency Point of Contact reported his death in a tweet, writing, "With immense and deep grief, we must notify you of the passing of @BillyKametz."

"Billy loved his followers so dearly, and I realise this is a terrible shock," it said in a second message.

 Please look after yourselves. Breathe. You're a part of his legacy, and he'd like to hear you're doing well."

The actor was well-known in the anime and video game communities, with his most well-known role being Naofumi Iwatani in the 2019 anime The Rising of the Shield Hero. 

For that performance, Kametz received Best Voice Actor Performance (EN) at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards.

He also voiced characters in anime series such as Attack on Titan, Boruto, Demon Slayer, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Pokémon Journeys and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Pennsylvania-born Kametz had announced he would be going home and taking a break from acting following his cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

He is survived by his parents William and Cheryl, and his sister Nikki.
